An Homage to Bela Lugosi as Dracula
Available for sale via Etsy: Available for sale via deviantArt: Bela was the original Count Dracula with the 1931 film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Before film (talkies), Lugosi had an amazing career on stage, but his film career, hampered by his age, Hungarian accent, and drug addiction, left him doing bit parts and roles near the end of his life. Fortunately, he found a friend in a young Ed Wood who did his best to get him the respect he deserved. The captivating and haunting Count Dracula I will forever remember. The image of Bela Lugosi is a stencil project I did a couple years ago. I am in the midst of putting together art for the Phoenix Comicon (our first year with a table, yay!). Since the stencil was from a photo of Bela from Dracula, it seemed only appropriate that Dracula's Castle be a part of it. The castle in the background is from the actual film's matte painting (I retraced it and took a couple liberties with it since I only needed the silhouette.
