Plan 9 from Outer Space in Lego
I was watching Plan 9, the Ed Wood classic, and I realized I hadn't seen anyone reimagine any of the weirdly incomplete graveyard scene. Descriptions of UFOs, even a remake, the dead coming to life, and all its finery. Well, I thought I'd make a UFO, a graveyard, and an apparent blast from the Dead-Reanimation Ray.
Shot with several fluorescent Lego pieces using a conventional light (meant to work like the "moon"), a pair of UV CFLs, and long exposures. Images are layered to contain the visible-light image as a base, the mostly-black layer of fluorescent light and a final layer of both visible and UV light. All combined in Photoshop with various blends and opacities for a great final effect. Some of the best final results were from multiple exposures to varying degrees.
